From Tammi Doyle – At the Region VII KCACTF in Denver last week, 16 students participated by acting, singing and presenting their playwriting and design work with skill and passion. One of the students, Jennifer Loschen, was given a special honor. Her one act play, The Flock (set at the UW in 1074) was chosen as a semi-finalist for the National One act Playwriting Award. Tammi would like to acknowledge and thank our playwriting instructor, Elena Hartwell, for her guidance and teaching.
♦ NewsTalk with Ana: A Reading Skills Workshop for English Language Learners – Every Wednesday 4:30-5:30 from 1/20/16 to 3/16/16
NewsTalk is a workshop series for ELI students where they can learn different reading skills like paraphrasing and finding the main idea. Together, we will then practice applying these skills to our news stories. The students can also develop their speaking skills by contributing to the discussions as they share their thoughts and reactions to each story with the group. Ask the instructors and/or tutors for more information! Hope to see you there!
