The Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) is comprised of a 10 credit, English 101 and 092/093, two-hour class where the student, who has English 092/093 (pre-college composition and reading) placement can enroll in our college-level composition course (English 101) and English 092/093 simultaneously. The English 092/093 component, where enrollment is capped at ten students, is a review/preparation hour where the instructor provides support for the student’s English 101 class. The Accelerated Learning Program fosters success by relying on a high challenge/high support learning environment, and incorporates resources from Student Support Services, and the Reading and Writing Lab.

Come to our one hour information session on Tuesday, November 18th from 2:00-3:00, R102, and learn about the following:

The rationale and success of ALP nationally

Brief history of ALP in the English Department at Bellevue College

How ALP works: organization and instructional approach

Success rates: data of students’ grades, retention and completion

Success rates: testimonies from instructors, students, and Student Support Services representatives (TRIO, MCS)

Upcoming projects for ALP – Piloting Microsoft Surface Pros with Russ Beard, Vice President of Information Resources

•Upcoming training and workshops for current and future ALP instructors, and anyone interested

Upcoming brown bag sessions for staff and faculty

Q & A

All are welcome!
