{"id":777,"date":"2015-03-16T10:33:09","date_gmt":"2015-03-16T17:33:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/commons.bellevuecollege.edu\/artsandhumanities\/?page_id=777"},"modified":"2017-08-29T11:16:44","modified_gmt":"2017-08-29T18:16:44","slug":"canvas-syllabi","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/commons.bellevuecollege.edu\/artsandhumanities\/canvas-syllabi\/","title":{"rendered":"CANVAS Syllabi for Public Viewing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/\/commons.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2015\/03\/Syllabus_picture.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-783\" src=\"\/\/commons.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2015\/03\/Syllabus_picture.png\" alt=\"Syllabus in large black letters\" width=\"119\" height=\"110\" \/><\/a>It is highly encouraged for Instructors to have their syllabi available for public viewing via <strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">CANVAS.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nIn order for <strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">CANVAS<\/span><\/strong> syllabi to function on the A\/H syllabi web site, Instructors will need to do the following:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 In <strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">CANVAS<\/span><\/strong>, on your class site, looking at the <strong><span style=\"color: #008000\">left menu<\/span><\/strong>, make sure the syllabus option is visible.<\/p>\n<p>\u21d2 eLearning link for<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/bcconnect\/2017\/07\/18\/make-your-canvas-syllabus-publicly-viewable\/\"> instructions<\/a>. \u21d0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/commons.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2015\/03\/Canvas_link_instructions.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2250 \" src=\"\/\/commons.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2015\/03\/Canvas_link_instructions-300x190.png\" alt=\"INstructions for Canvas Links\" width=\"372\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Mark the syllabus \u201c<span style=\"color: #008000\"><strong>public<\/strong><\/span>\u201d located in the <strong><span style=\"color: #008000\">settings section <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #008000\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">(down at the bottom)<\/span><\/span>.<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/\/commons.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2015\/03\/Canvas-Syllabus-Screen-Shot-1.pdf\">Canvas Syllabi Link Instructions<\/a> (pdf file)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #216a9e\"><strong>Making Syllabi public<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go into settings (located at the bottom on the left-hand menu).<\/li>\n<li>scroll down to <span style=\"color: #216a9e\">\u201c<strong>Visibility<\/strong>,\u201d<\/span> make sure the word \u201c<span style=\"color: #216a9e\"><strong>course<\/strong><\/span>\u201d is in the box.<\/li>\n<li>Right beneath the Visibility box \u2013\u00a0<span style=\"color: #216a9e\"><strong>check\u00a0 \u201cCustomize<\/strong><\/span>,\u201d<\/li>\n<li>the word \u201c<span style=\"color: #216a9e\"><strong>syllabus<\/strong><\/span>\u201d should be showing,<\/li>\n<li>make sure the word \u201c<span style=\"color: #216a9e\"><strong>public<\/strong><\/span>\u201d is displayed<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u2022 After marking the syllabus &#8220;<strong><span style=\"color: #008000\">public<\/span><\/strong>,&#8221; go back to the syllabus page and copy the URL address and paste into a Request Center ticket under Arts &amp; Humanities under the web posting option.. \u00a0You may e-mail \u00a0the link directly to <strong><span style=\"color: #008000\">Janis Juarez. \u00a0<span style=\"color: #333333\">For all\u00a0<span style=\"color: #008000\">ELI and Dev Ed<\/span> syllabi please send\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong>to <strong><span style=\"color: #008000\">Seda Markarova<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Three CANVAS Syllabi examples:<\/strong><br \/>\n<a title=\"https:\/\/bc.instructure.com\/courses\/1077303\/assignments\/syllabus\" href=\"https:\/\/bc.instructure.com\/courses\/1077303\/assignments\/syllabus\">https:\/\/bc.instructure.com\/courses\/1077303\/assignments\/syllabus<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"https:\/\/bc.instructure.com\/courses\/1078509\/assignments\/syllabus\" href=\"https:\/\/bc.instructure.com\/courses\/1078509\/assignments\/syllabus\">https:\/\/bc.instructure.com\/courses\/1078509\/assignments\/syllabus<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bc.instructure.com\/courses\/1106868\/assignments\/syllabus\">https:\/\/bc.instructure.com\/courses\/1106868\/assignments\/syllabus<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Positive things about this new option:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 This is a way for syllabi to be more consistent throughout the division and campus.<br \/>\n\u2022 Changes are easily made on the <strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">CANVAS<\/span> <\/strong>site, not having to submit revised, additional syllabi documents.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Transparency &#8211; Students will get a glimpse of expected workload. \u00a0Is very helpful in the decision process of what classes to take in any given quarter.<br \/>\n\u2022 Syllabi will be available to the public for future use.<br \/>\n\u2022 gives an efficient method for the college to track syllabi information.<br \/>\n\u2022 Reduces the amount of documents stored in the WordPress site.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399\"><strong>*\u00a0A&amp;H started this practice<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>for syllabi spring quarter 2015<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0.
