From Tammi Doyle<\/strong><\/span> – At the Region VII KCACTF<\/strong><\/strong> <\/span>in Denver last week, 16 students participated by acting, singing and presenting their playwriting and design work with skill and passion.\u00a0 One of the students, Jennifer Loschen<\/span>,<\/strong><\/strong> was given a special honor.\u00a0 Her one act play, The Flock<\/strong><\/em><\/strong> (set at the UW in 1074) was chosen as a semi-finalist for the National One act Playwriting Award<\/strong><\/strong>.\u00a0 Tammi <\/strong><\/strong>would like to acknowledge and thank our playwriting instructor, Elena Hartwell<\/span>,<\/strong><\/strong> for her guidance and teaching.<\/p>\n

\"Workshops\"<\/a>\u2666<\/span> NewsTalk with Ana<\/u>:<\/span> A Reading Skills Workshop for English Language Learners<\/span> \u2013 Every Wednesday 4:30-5:30 from 1\/20\/16 to 3\/16\/16
\nNewsTalk<\/strong> is a workshop series for ELI students where they can learn different reading skills<\/strong> like paraphrasing and finding the main idea.\u00a0 Together, we will then practice applying these skills to our news stories.\u00a0 The students can also develop their speaking skills <\/strong>by contributing to the discussions as they share their thoughts and reactions to each story with the group.\u00a0 Ask the instructors and\/or tutors for more information!\u00a0 Hope to see you there!<\/p>\n
