Stage 1: Establishing Foundations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n – Assemble a Steering Committee<\/p>\n\n\n\n – Define Objectives<\/p>\n\n\n\n – Conduct Research<\/p>\n\n\n\n – Faculty Discussion (where we are now)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stage 2: Framework Development<\/strong> (Starting Spring 2024)<\/p>\n\n\n\n –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Faculty Survey for new Outcomes<\/p>\n\n\n\n –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Draft Outcomes and KSAs for each outcome<\/p>\n\n\n\n –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Faculty Discussion\/Seek Feedback<\/p>\n\n\n\n –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Revise Outcomes and KSAs<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stage 3: Pilot courses and Assessment <\/strong>(Starting in 2024-25)<\/p>\n\n\n\n –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Recruit 3 – 5 courses per outcome to pilot new outcomes and assess with rubrics<\/p>\n\n\n\n –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Review with involved faculty and Gen Ed working groups<\/p>\n\n\n\n –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Revise Outcomes and Assessment<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stage 3: Governance and Committee Structure<\/strong> (2024-25)<\/p>\n\n\n\n – Establish dedicated sub-committees for each of the Gen Ed outcomes<\/p>\n\n\n\n – Each committee is responsible for clearly defining and articulating the specific learning outcomes they oversee<\/p>\n\n\n\n – The sub-committees develop criteria that courses must meet to be certified as fulfilling a Gen Ed outcome<\/p>\n\n\n\n –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The sub-committees determine the preferred model: basic, deluxe or premium for implementing and assessing the outcome<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stage 4: Assessment and Certification<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n – The sub-committees develop clear methods for assessing learning outcomes<\/p>\n\n\n\n – The sub-committees review and recommend courses to the CAC for Gen Ed certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stage 5: Implementation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Expand Gen Ed program to reach all students<\/p>\n\n\n\n –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Fine tune outcomes, KSAs and assessment rubrics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stage 6: Finalization and Voting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n – Refine the proposal based on pilot feedback and faculty discussions<\/p>\n\n\n\n – Conduct a faculty vote on the final proposal<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stage 7: Continuous Evaluation and Adaption<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n – Review and Reflect<\/p>\n\n\n\n – Modify and Enhance<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Here is an outline of our current working plan for Gen Ed Reform at BC.
