Thanks for checking this out!
I hope this can be a resource for many on campus who are interested in issues related to information security, such as data and information privacy, safe computing practices, and regulatory compliance as it relates to the use of technology in higher education and to the various types of data and information used to conduct the academic and business functions related to Bellevue College.
It is also important to recognize that the basic practices of information security can apply to your use of any technology anywhere, whether it is for your official work duties or in your personal life. Therefore, these postings will reflect not only the important information, policies and standards related to information security that campus users should be aware of as they perform their daily work, but also will include items of interest from the field in general.
This is an important area of our modern “always plugged-in” lives that many people don’t take the time to think about until they are negatively impacted by some kind of breach of the security of information upon which they rely. Then, it can become the most important thing in your life, whether you are trying to protect the college data over which you have stewardship or are trying to protect your personal information, your personal technology and your personal privacy.
Check back here periodically. I hope it will be interesting reading.
