Photo credit: Gordon Hom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4>James Riggall Brings Makerspace\u00a0Experience to Bellevue College<\/h4>\n<p>Over the past six years, James Riggall has developed a number of community-based makerspaces in Launceston and Hobart Tasmania.\u00a0 The goal of these makerspaces is to provide a place where students of all ages can\u00a0develop hands-on projects under the mentorship of experienced tutors.\u00a0 These can be considered as informal learning environments that not only teach through hands-on\u00a0projects\u00a0but provide a service to the wider\u00a0community in Tasmania.<\/p>\n<p>These\u00a0makerspaces are given logistical support from organizations such as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitlink.com.au\/\">BitLink<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.innovationcircle.com.au\/\">Innovation Circle<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.enterprize.space\/\">Enterprize<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.startuptasmania.com\/\">StartUp Tasmania <\/a>and the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TasCatalyst\">TasCatalyst Project<\/a>.\u00a0 As one of the goals of his Fulbright scholarship, Riggall intends to contribute his entrepreneurial startup and makerspace experience to help kickstart a hands-on, project based educational community at Bellevue College.<\/p>\n<h4>Bellevue College Makerspace Movers and Shakers<\/h4>\n<p>In 2015 efforts were\u00a0initiated by Gita Bangera, Interim\u00a0Vice President of Instruction and Vivienne McClendon, Dean of the Library Media Center to create a <strong>Collaboratory<\/strong> space in the Bellevue College library.\u00a0 This\u00a0&#8220;noisy&#8221;
