Early Career Pathways into Virtual Reality<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Students enrolled\u00a0in Bellevue College STEM courses had a chance to witness a panel of virtual reality developers from the Seattle area in early November, 2017.\u00a0 The panel led a discussion\u00a0on how they got involved with the virtual reality industry,\u00a0their path through school, and advice\u00a0to students\u00a0who are thinking about\u00a0VR\u00a0and related\u00a0disciplines\u00a0as a potential career path.\u00a0\u00a0The panel consisted of a\u00a0cross-section of early career people who have taken different paths to join the Seattle area virtual reality industry.<\/p>\n

The panel was led by Christina Sciabarra and James Riggall representing Bellevue College, and was made up of the following producer-participants:<\/p>\n

General themes of the panel:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

  • There is no “one size fits all” path into the virtual reality field. Everyone on the panel arrived via a unique\u00a0set of circumstances<\/li>\n
  • \u00a0It’s important to be persistent -taking advantage of available internships, classes, and local VR meetups and other community gatherings.<\/li>\n
  • Keep working on a chosen skill set, and maintain a commitment to lifetime learning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
