A Transparent Dialogue

This site contains the output from a dialogue on May 16, 2017, at Bellevue College.  The dialogue explored many of the questions and concerns that have been at the top of our minds this year, including:

  • Hate Posters – Free Speech or Hate Speech? What is BC’s response / responsibility to the flyers and future incidents?
  • Crime or assault on campus? What is BC’s response / responsibility?
  • What happens if I.C.E. comes on to campus? What is BC’s response / responsibility?
  • Outcomes: Practical tools to use at BC in addressing these key issues

The format was a gathering of colleagues having a conversation in a fish bowl setting exploring questions and concerns for you to observe. Derek Edwards, Senior Counsel of the Washington State Office of the Attorney General, was with us to talk about issues of compliance and free speech.
