International Stories

International Education Week 2016 LogoHello International Educators,

As you are probably now aware, November 14 to 18 is International Education Week. During this week-long celebration, I will be hosting an event called International Stories (Stories for short). This will be a collection of 3-5 minute oral stories based around the theme of “Home Away from Home” and can include true stories of international adventures and misadventures, humorous or embarrassing cultural faux pas, serendipitous cultural Home Away from Home is written on a European mapdiscoveries, or even a fictionalized account of an intercultural experience. We are currently searching for outgoing/quiet/capable students (aka anyone) who can tell a good story. Faculty and staff are welcome to participate as well.

save the dateThe Date & Time: Tuesday, November 15, 1:30-2:30pm

The Setting: C130 (Garden Room) dressed as an intimate town hall/open mic/cafe space furnished with comfy chairs for storytellers.

Audience: Anyone and everyone (this is an open doors event)

How you can help: Please refer students with stories to share to me at:  taylor.dalrymple@bellevuecollege.edu

This will be a wonderful confidence booster and skill builder for all storytellers as well as inspiration for observers. Looking to the future, we also expect this to serve as a unique platform for engaging in cross-cultural dialogue on campus.
