Accelerated Learning Program (ACL)

David Kopp in classGreetings, Colleagues:
Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, November 18th from 2:00-3:00 pm.
Since Winter 2013, the English Department has been providing our students accelerated composition and reading classes via the Accelerated Learning Program. The Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) is comprised of a 10 credit, English 101 and 092/093, two-hour class where the student, who has English 092/093 (pre-college composition and reading) placement can enroll in our college-level composition course (English 101) and English 092/093 simultaneously. The English 092/093 component, where enrollment is capped at ten students, is a review/preparation hour where the instructor provides support for the student’s English 101 class. The Accelerated Learning Program fosters success by relying on a high challenge/high support learning environment, and incorporates resources from Student Support Services, and the Reading and Writing Lab.
