Workshops NewsTalk with Ana: A Reading Skills Workshop for English Language Learners – Every Wednesday 4:30-5:30 from 1/20/16 to 3/16/16
NewsTalk is a workshop series for ELL students where they can learn different reading skills like paraphrasing and finding the main idea.  Together, we will then practice applying these skills to our news stories.  The students can also develop their speaking skills by contributing to the discussions as they share their thoughts and reactions to each story with the group.  Ask the instructors and/or tutors for more information!  Hope to see you there!

Summarizing Your ReadingSaturday, March 5. 1:00-3:00 pm in D204 Do you get overwhelmed by too much information in your class readings?  When you start to summarize, all words disappear from your mind?  Do you have no idea how to “say it in your own words,” so you copy random sentences from the text, hoping it’s enough?  You are not alone!  This workshop gives tips on finding the important information to put in a summary.  Effective summarizing can help you understand more and remember concepts better.  Come and practice this valuable skill during this workshop.
